Multi-Factor Authentication Services

January 14, 2022 odmin 0 Comments

We spend a lot of our days surfing the internet. Our social media platforms, new clothing store online accounts and online banking profiles require us to register our credentials and set up various passwords to gain access to many online benefits. These are a few of many platforms that require us to register our profiles, there are many more. It has therefore gotten harder and harder with each passing day to stay safe online and to maintain good habits that ensure our protection. Our personal information is always circulating the various applications we use. Investing in safety tools can increase your safety and reduce the likelihood of becoming a target for cybercriminals.

What is a multi-factor authentication service?

It is a tool that is utilised as an extra measure of safety. It prompts you to authenticate your identity before accessing an application. There are different ways you can choose to verify your identity and we will discuss them in-depth later in this article.

One of the purposes of having this service is that if your account or your device is compromised, then you can remain secure.  Having an office multi-factor authentication app means you will still be able to retain your power and security. You will be required to verify the fact that you have access to the application you are trying to use.

This service is useful in that even if you lose your phone, your security remains intact. It is the best way to protect your accounts and secure your login process. It is also a great way to be notified when someone else is trying to access your accounts because when you get an SMS with a security code you did not ask for, you can report this to the relevant platform.

Why must you use this service:

Gone are the days where simply using a password was enough to secure your data. Therefore, a MFA service is the most efficient manner to tighten your security. Using an office multi-factor authentication service might spare you of the stress that comes with someone having unauthorised access to your accounts.

Types of Multi-Factor Authentication services

1.    SMS/ Short Message Service/ Text

This is one of the easiest and most accessible types of MFA services which relies on the delivery of a one-time password (OTP) delivered via a text message. The disadvantage of this method is that if you happen to lose your phone, your security for other accounts will be compromised.

2.   Authenticator Apps

This is a type of multi-factor authentication service application that works by using a mobile app to give you a passcode you will need to use your account. This helps to significantly decrease the likelihood of your account’s security being compromised by hackers.

3.    Biometric MFAs

Is one of the types of multi-factor authentication services that works by requiring you to present some part of your body feature. These are features that are unique and cannot be duplicated or stolen. You may be required to use fingerprints, voice, or face recognition.

4. Email verification

It works a bit like the SMS one. The difference is that the verification code is sent via email. This works better than the SMS method because if you happen to your phone, it is easier to get access to your email using your computer.

Office Multi-Factor Authentication

Using Office multi-factor authentication means even though an attacker may have compromised your password they still cannot access your data without proceeding to the authentication process.

Steps to set up your Office Multi-Factor Authentication

1.      Install the Office multi-factor authentication app if you are using your phone.

2.      If you are using your desktop or laptop, log onto

3.      Open the office MFA app on your phone and choose “Add account” and then choose work or school account.

4.      Select Scan a QR Code and then click “Next”

5.      Once the step is completed, you will receive a push notification on your cell phone that you must approve

6.      When completed, click “Done” and you are good to go.

7.   You will be logged into your Office account, and you will be required to enter an additional phone number in case you lose your phone.
